Josef Newgarden completed his 15th NTT INDYCAR SERIES season in 2026 and his 10th consecutive season with Team Penske, driving the No. 2 Chevrolet. The 35-year-old two-time series champion and two-time Indianapolis 500 winner finished seventh in the standings, earning victories at Phoenix and World Wide Technology Raceway.
He won back-to-back Indianapolis 500s in 2023 and 2024, becoming the first driver to do so since Helio Castroneves in 2001–2002.
With 34 career wins, Newgarden is the winningest active American driver in the series. A graduate of INDY NXT by Firestone, the Nashville, Tennessee, native won the 2011 championship with five victories.
Off the track, Newgarden enjoys traveling with his wife, Ashley, and son, Kota, exploring new cities and cultures. He holds dual citizenship in the United States and Denmark, lived in England from 2009 to 2010, and competed across Europe in Formula Ford and GP3. Newgarden is also the author of two children’s books: Josef, The Indy Car Driver and Josef’s Big Dream: An Indy 500 Story.
