With a confirmed move to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES in a naming partnership with David Malukas and the No. 18 entry of Dale Coyne Racing with HMD Motorsports, the Dale Coyne Racing name and logo also will be visible in the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires program.
“This is a mutual partnership where we look to take advantage of several synergies,” longtime INDYCAR SERIES team owner Dale Coyne said. “We are excited to have David and the HMD brand in INDYCAR and equally excited to have the chance to play a role with a championship caliber program in Indy Lights.”
The partnership, which will see HMD Motorsports, HMD Trucking and Benefit Trucking associated with the Dale Coyne Racing INDYCAR effort, will also allow the HMD Motorsports drivers a direct path to the upper echelon of open-wheel racing in North America.
“We are both Chicago based businesses, and our geographical location has already allowed us to take advantage of rewarding opportunities,” HMD Motorsports Founder and President Henry Malukas said. “Additionally, our Indy Lights drivers have a program that they can strive to get to, and we have another avenue to cross promote in both INDYCAR and Indy Lights.
“We will also continue our relationship with Global Racing Group and the No. 24 entry of Benjamin Pedersen. While four of our five cars will race under the HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing banner, Benjamin will compete under the Global Racing Group with HMD Motorsports effort.”
HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing will be on track this weekend in the season-opening Grand Prix of St. Petersburg with Danial Frost, Linus Lundqvist, Christian Bogle and Manuel Sulaiman, as well as Global Racing Group with HMD Motorsports entry Benjamin Pedersen. David Malukas will make his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut in the No. 18 Dale Coyne Racing with HMD Motorsports entry.
