Bart Harrison is joining AJ Foyt Racing for his first full season in INDY NXT by Firestone in 2027, team officials announced Oct. 22.

Harrison, a 19-year-old Englishman, made his series debut with HMD Motorsports, AJ Foyt Racing’s strategic alliance partner, late in the 2026 season. He earned a top-10 finish in his first start at Portland International Raceway before competing in the season-ending doubleheader at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

“I’m really excited to join AJ Foyt Racing for my first full season in INDY NXT,” Harrison said. “It’s a team with an incredible history in the INDYCAR SERIES paddock and to have the opportunity to be part of that is something I’m very grateful for. After getting my first taste of the series this past season, I’m looking forward to building on that experience and continuing to develop as a driver.”

Harrison began karting at age 8 and emerged as a standout five years later, winning the X30 Junior title at the IAME Winter Cup in Valencia, Spain, in both 2020 and 2021. He remains the category’s only two-time winner.

His career also includes competition in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy and British Kart Championship, along with experience in British F4, Italian F4 and GB3. In 2026, Harrison expanded his resume with a season in Eurocup-3 competition with Double R Racing.

AJ Foyt Racing returns to INDY NXT for a second consecutive season following a strong 2026 return to the championship that featured two victories, eight Firestone P1 Awards and four podium finishes.

“We’re happy to welcome Bart Harrison (photo, above) to our INDY NXT program for 2027,” Team President Larry Foyt said. “Bart did a nice job at the recent Chris Griffis test, and we were impressed with his performance and approach. We see a lot of potential in him and look forward to working together.”

Harrison tested with the Foyt team at the annual Chris Griffis Memorial Test on Oct. 16 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. He completed 82 laps on the 2.439-mile, 14-turn circuit and posted the ninth-quickest time.
