Niels Koolen returns in 2026 with Chip Ganassi Racing for his third INDY NXT by Firestone season. The son of rally-raid driver and Dutch businessman Kees Koolen, he began karting at 14 and gained experience in Formula Regional European and Middle East championships, European Le Mans, FIA Formula 2 and select Spanish and Italian F4 races. Koolen finished the 2025 INDY NXT season with a top-five and seven top-10 results. He is managed by A-14 Management, the driver development academy founded by two-time Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso.
